I just joined. If you are in Wisconsin I hope you will join also. I am going to start carrying open, but the challenge is getting in and out of a vehicle. Wisconsin does not recognize any vehicular "open carry" (on the seat / dash). I will have to unload and case the gun "out of lunge range" within the vehicle, then reload and place it back on my hip at my destination. Like that won't look suspicious.

And for us south of the Cheddar Curtain; Illinois Carry.

I've been a member for 2 months. This group is pretty active and works with our Illinois State Rifle Association. We're in a much tougher position than our WI brothers. IMO, IL has the weakest gun rights in the entire country.

I wouldn't say "much" tougher. It seems like after the east and west coasts the dead center Midwest comes in second for gun control. Wisonsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska -- all just horrible for gun owners.

Make that Northeast coast. VA, NC, SC, and GA aren't too bad for gun owners.

FL isn't too bad, either.

<SLV>, can you keep the weapon in the trunk, loaded?

slv, i wasn't aware of this, thanks for the tip.

fwiw, you'll find doyle HATES guns. the legislature has passed conceal carry multiple times (with large democrat suport of it) here. doyle says no. you'll find that madison and milwaukee determines all of our laws here.

Thats about how it is down here in Sickinois as well. The only difference is it is one town (Chicago) and Ritchie (Ebbybody) Daley that dictates the laws of the state.

Any weapon being transported in/on a vehicle (including ATVs) must be completely encased unloaded with the ammunition stored in SEPERATE vehicle compartment. In other words, if you have a cased rifle in the trunk the boxed ammunition must be carried in the vehicle somewhere besides the trunk.
