Lowers
what do you guys and gals think
been thinking about buying them and just sticking them in a safe the only problem would be buy them around $150 but the $40 transfer fee from my ffl would add the cost up, but with a ban could sky rocket |
Re: Lowers
They would skyrocket -- IF-- you could still get parts to build it out in the event of a ban...

Re: Lowers
Good idea, but you're about a year late. Good luck finding any in stock these days. It's not a bad idea to have other frames/receivers stashed away, either. Also, $40 sounds a little high for a transfer, but I guess it's a regional thing. I'd shop around and see if anyone else could do it for less. $20-$25 seems to be the going rate around here. Also, some dealers charge one transfer fee per gun/frame, others do per 4473 (regardless of how many items being transferred).

Re: Lowers
Well, nice to have the lowers - but - it does not make them legal if a ban comes along.

That's right! It might be up to you to proove. I think eveyrone around here has had that idea and many that have been into AR's most likey have 5-10 in the back of their safe already. The quandry with this is what has already been stated. Anyway, I would pick up one or two if you would use - I am not sure I would make an investment in them at this point - and definitly not with a 40 buck each premium. Look for something local - go to a show or two ect. |
Re: Lowers
I don't think they are going to grandfather anything - too many out there. I bet they are going to flat out make possession illegal. Turn em in - you have 90 days to think it over.

Re: Lowers
I bought about 30 of them and transferred most of them as rifles but a small handful as pistols.
The dealer I used charged me the initial charge for the first one and 10.00 each after the first. I have a possible line on new receivers that are well below the 140.00 price. I would think lowers would be a great :fan:investment. |
Re: Lowers
Ok since I love ya all like a brother.
http://www.essentialarms.com/ieLOWERSANDPARTS.HTML You will not beat these prices for lowers anymore. Check out ar-15.com forums for feedback on this company. Essential Arms are some good people and they are some good lowers. Downside, can't order through site and have to phone the order in. You might be trying over a couple days to get through, but once you get through you are good to go. Again check ar-15.com forums for wait time for trying to get through on the phone, but they haven't had a real waiting period at all compared to other companies. I heard people getting an order in and having these in 2 to 3 weeks tops. |
