Help!!!

Although I really all ready have my basses covered, I would of course love to add another "evil" one to the collection, and I'm thinking it's likely not ever going to be any cheaper. Again, while my bases are covered, I want whatever I get to be a highly functional tool if the SHTF. I have plenty of 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 hence the AK platforms and the PTR-91.

I just can't decide...:4_1_72:

Re: Help!!!

For SHTF, my choice would go to the rifle that would function reliably with ANY scrounged ammo (steel or brass cased) that I may be forced to use. Obvious first choice might be the PTR, but how would it function (with fluted chamber) if all I had was steel-cased Russian ammo?

The Krinkov is cool, but the Saiga might be more effective with the longer barrel. I don't care for the underfolding stock on the Yugo (poor cheekweld) and it's unlined barrel.

Soooo..the Arsenal quality Saiga it is.

Re: Help!!!

My choice would be the Yugo. I have one and it is at least 1 pound heavier than any of the above. That one pound is in a thicker receiver. chrome bolt and carrier and overall better built than the Sagia.

The non chrome lined barrel is not a issue as most of the Yugo for sale come with a new barrel. Unless you are planning on running 10k rounds through it BEFORE TSHTF it won't matter.

Just my .02.

PTR!
I just finished making my PTR into what I wanted and couldn't be happier.

Re: Help!!!

Get the Krinkov. Very concealable and most likely to get zapped under a future AWB (although all on the list are targeted). My .02

I went for a YUGO underfolder and my buddy bought a Krink.

I'm assuming the Krink pictured has a welded in place stock, right ?
Nice lookin' tho.

No, if I'm following you correctly, it is an SBR. If I get that particular one, I would have to get the tax stamp, etc. I can get one of similar make and quality with a longer can (fake suppressor) and it wouldn't be classified as a SBR though.

Do tell, what kind of mods did you make?

Started with a standard PTR91SC and added a collapsible stock and a G3K ventilated hand guard...

I have added a slip on grip and a Specter single point sling since I took the picture.

Sweet! That's pretty close to what i have in mind. Tell me something though, is the recoil with the collapsible stock as rough as I've seen on the net? I've fired a couple PTR's with fixed stocks before, and to be honest I didn't think they were bad at all. Of course I'm used to a Dragunov and I'm not exactly a small guy anyway.

Re: Help!!!

It seems about the same to me. The cheek weld takes a bit of getting use to.

Well i went with the Yugo. I may still end up getting a PTR too though, depending upon how business is over the next couple of weeks.

The Cadillac of the AK world.

Yeah Centerfire was selling them for like $499 up until November. I remember seeing one at the most expensive shop around here for $550 last summer. You cant hardly find one in a shop anymore at any price now though.

She is just beautiful!

Now it's time to go forth and seek mags and about a cubic yard of ammo so you can "take advantage of her" this summer.

:s1:

P.S.
The plastic mag looks wrong but will do in a pinch. Let us know how well that mag works.
