C93
This is kind of a part 2 to my HK93, HK33, C93 thread
I had promised a better review for my C93 after I had a chance to shoot it. Some time has gone by since then and I ended up getting a second C93 prior to even shooting the first. You cant eat just one. Anyway some background on the rifles history. HK33s came out in the 60s and were used all over the world. These rifles are being destroyed and sold to companies in the US as parts kits. The dates from the parts that I have seen show that a lot of these rifles are from the 70s (both of my rifles appear to be from 1974). Century is now breathing new life into these parts kits by having them assembled into C93s using new barrels and receivers. Century is using at least 2 different subcontractors to do this. The parkerized C93s are manufactured by Allied Armament. It is yet to be determined who is manufacturing the painted C93s. I was lucky enough to have ended up with one of each. I will admit that I do like the build job that Allied did a bit better but both are fine rifles. There are 2 types of lower housings that come with the C93s and I hate both of them. With new US made flash hiders I was able to swap out the skanky US housings for uber sexy HK33 SUO housings for $7 each. The Allied is on the left. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/c93.JPG The rifles each came with 2 - 40rd. magazines and a bayonet. After having put off getting out to the range because of the snow and cold I finally went out yesterday in the snow and put 40rds. (1 mag) through each. Both functioned 100% with 0 problems. However if you are a reloader you may want to hire a migrant worker to act as a backstop for your brass. As with most HK rifles when unimpeded the brass is flung into the next county. Zeroing will wait until spring. Both rifles grouped well at 25 yards even shooting standing unsupported. Overall great rifles for the money! |

Re: C93
neg,
How much did you pay for the Century C93? There's a guy in my town selling one for $625. I'm still in the market for an L1A1, but I may need to check these out. EDIT: Your AIM link answered my question. |
Re: C93
looks like AIM is sold out

Re: C93
$599 so your $625 is not bad at all if it's new. If it's not new talk him down and try to take it out to run a mag through it first.

Re: C93
I've had my finger on the trigger for the last few days, now that they are only $499 with 1 mag and no bayonet
http://www.jgsales.com/product_info....oducts_id/3447 Its terribly tempting.. but this recent review of the gun is preventing me I'm afraid I'm not much of a risk taker :( even though j&g sales has excellent return policy I wouldn't want to mess with the headache of returning it if defective. |

Re: C93
Most HK clones are a roll of the dice. It pays to go with a seller that you trust.
Even the Vector clones have a load of problems at twice the price of a C93. The alternative would be to pay literally thousands more for a genuine HK93. I rolled the dice buying two and won both times. If I hadn't won I would keep sending the dice back until I did. :s1: |
