Has anyone here ever bought ammo through this website? www.ammoman.com They offer the best online deals I can find for cases of ammo, but I want to see if anyone here has an opinion. Thanks!

Its been about a year, since my last order, but I've bought several cases of 7.62x39 from them and a few runs or 9mm and .45...

Always perfect transactions...

Recomended a them to a few friends they had the same luck...

Been wanting to stock up on the .223, but can't seem to part with the dough....

AIM (in Ohio) is cheaper including shipping for me......Usually when a site advertises 'free shipping', it's included in the price and averaged for ALL locations. Excellent service.

Example: 7.62x39 Wolf

Ammoman: 199

AIM: 169 +20.50 shipping = 189.50

He's got a great deal on Federal Gold Medal Match .308 - I picked up a case, shipped fast. I'd do business with them again.

3rd vote for aim. Received my order yesterday. Fast service, great prices (compared to others).

90% of the time you can beat their prices. Plus, 'Eric' or 'Marty' or whatever the heck he's going by today is a real jerk. Ammoman has been run off of every major firearm forum for ripping people off.

Here's a link to one thread about him:

Yes I have ordered from them three times and every time it went smoothly. I would recommend them.

I just went to ammoman to buy AR and AK mags. 10 GI issue for $149 on the AR (green follower). so I loaded up my cart with a bunch of ammo too (5.56, 7.62, and 9mm) but then saw Andy's post. Went to AIM upgraded to Magpul mags, got the same ammo from the same manufacturer and saved $97. Thanks Andy.

Now I just have to get the UPS guy to sneak the stuff into my garage without the wife seeing it. :D

Tn...Andy 02-20-2008 12:57 PM

Re: www.ammoman.com?

"...and saved $97"

Which is like 6-7 free mags, huh ? :D

Pays to shop. I'm constantly amazed at the difference in price on things on the internet.

I needed some new bulbs for the ultraviolet sterilizer light we have on our water system, and they range in price from 58 bucks at the cheapest place I could find to well over 100 at the most expensive...median price was about 65.......same brand light exactly.

It is the only place I buy when looking to make a volume purcahse. Out of 50 or so transactions -- each one was perfect.

Just a quick question for those of you who have purchased say like 1k or more of ammo and had it delivered.

when it was shipped did it come with the labeling drescribing what the contents where or did it come in a plain non descript box??

Havent purchased ammo online yet but that is a major concern for me

anyfeedback out there??

Re: www.ammoman.com?

Had it come both ways......but when a box shows up weighing what they weigh, trust me, the UPS guy knows what's in it.....

However, I'm thinking of starting a re-shipping service....you send have it sent to me, I remove 10% + the cost of shipping onward.....pack it in a nice, secure, carton that says "MACHINE PARTS" and send in on to you.

Wanna be my first customer ? :D

This will be my first shipment of ammo. I live close to the sportsman's guide so I usually just go there. Ordering today was amoment of weakness based on what I think are great prices.

So this shipment will be 4000 rounds of four varieties of ammo, 20 magazines and a few small AK parts. Shipping from AIM Surplus. How do you think it will ship? One box? Several?

Again, my wife is going to kill me...

Re: www.ammoman.com?

Several boxes....4000rds alone will weigh well over 100lbs....

Take the bullet weight of each type round, double that, roughly, to allow for the case, powder, primer, packaging, and divide it in 7000grains/lb......then that into the number of rounds, and you'll be in the ballpark of the weight of your ammo.

I got 4,000 115 grain bullets only from Midway recently and the box was 66lbs. DANG heavy little box.

Ammoman = good service, fast plus they have pictures of all their products. I did a lot of searching before I found the best deal on my particular caliber and they were by far the cheapest.

Thanx Andy......My feeling is when I start to store up I will put it another box or cover the label with white stickers or something so if (heaven forbid) I have a fire marshall inspection(we have them in jersey:rant:)it just looks like a bunch of DVD's or something like that.

Soon as my budget allows I am REALLY going to load up.

Thanx for the feedback

My UPS ammo delivery was left at my front gate. No signature. Watch the delivery status and pick it up as soon as they drop it.

Yep.....same here, gate.....I ALWAYS stress that I want a UPS tracking # when somebody ships, but they don't always do so.

Jrog: You might want to look also at Midway.....81 different manufacturer/loads just for the .44, some of them cheaper than Ammo man ( not Federal to Federal comp though ) + great place for reloading stuff...with that expensive a gun to shoot, you REALLY ought to get into reloading if you're not already..... :D

I paid $28.98 each 100 rd box of Winchester 45 auto FMJ white box in town. That is about the price I see for 50 rd box on the net. Am I missing something?

Re: www.ammoman.com?

I haven't shopped ammoman since 2000.

I live within 1 zone of www.southernohiogun.com and www.aimsurplus.com , they are always atleast $15-25 cheaper per case than ammo man.

Were I to live out in the sticks (which I hope to one day) I'd use ammoman, but for most people it's cheaper to buy elsewhere. That and I've heard ALOT of horror stories about ammoman when an order doesn't go right.

J&G for me sucks because of shipping from AZ to here, so I rarely use them. Midwayusa has excellent shipping rates and is as quick as SOG and AIM... if you have a C&R midway gives you a 'dealer discount', which isn't as good as it use to be.

If I put in an order for SOG right now, it'd likely be on my doorstep tomorrow night. AIM it'd be here friday. Midway ships same day like SOF and AIM, but they are zone 2 from me, so UPS is slower.

Re: www.ammoman.com?

Hey Andy, not to rain on your parade, but your 'machine parts' would still be required to sport an 'ORM-D', which would pretty much tip off anyone with a clue.

There was a thread about a month ago where someone was proclaiming how cheap ammoman was, until I showed cheaper prices delivered for 308, '06, 5.45, 5.56, 30 carbine, 380, and 45acp. I didn't look into other prices.

There are a few sources out there that are constantly very good (Widener's, AIM, J&G, Century are a couple of favorites, along with 44mag.com for mags), but even they will be out of line on one item or another from time to time. If you have the cash to blow, I guess it's no big deal, but otherwise, it is imparative that you shop a little.

For the record, I've bought multiple thousands of rounds from 'ammoman' over the past several years, but wouldn't buy a single round of 22lr now that I know how he treats his customers. Everything is great until it isn't. He is one of very few retailers who will curse you and tell you to pound sand if there is a problem, even one which he caused. He's also a condescending jerk if you can actually get him on the phone to answer a question. Good luck.:thumpdown

Re: www.ammoman.com?

I think I'll try that AIM place mentioned above... Might pick up some ammo and a few mags...

I do remember ordering some things from them a few years ago... I think it was some parts or accessories when I was building a pretty cool 10/22....

My AIM Surplus order arrived yesterday morning. All looks good. The order took six days to arrive and this was the cheap UPS ground service. The day my order shipped AIM sent an email with the tracking number and the status of the package. I will order from them again...and again and again. Good business.

I cancelled the Ammoman order as I just can't afford to do both.

Re: www.ammoman.com?

I live 2200 miles from Ammoman. His prices on XM193 and 7.62x39 cheaper than most for me since they include shipping...and I get emails and UPS tracking all the way.

Cheaper than J&G Sales (Prescott, AZ) which is only 5 hours down the road from me...

Cheaper than Cheaper Than Dirt out of Fort Worth...

Cheaper than MidwayUSA...

As cheap as AIM Surplus...

As cheap as wholesale prices I pay at Tucson gun shows--and I have to spend $50 for gas.

I have bought tons of Speer Gold Dot LE Grade .40 S&W and 9mm bulk pack from Eric...which no one else seems to have.

I have never had problems with ammoman and will continue to do business with him.

Well, it looks like I'm the only one to order ammo from Centerfire Systems or KY Imports . Both have EXCELLENT customer service.

I scarfed up the LAST of the Golden Tiger in 39 from Centerfire last October. I'm just hoping they get some more in before summer. I doubled my ammo locker last fall. I'm seriously considering doubling my mbr ammo yet again. Never can have 'too much' ammo. I'll soon have five semi-auto rifles that all fire 39, so ya just gotta stock up. Pretty soon, THIS will be considered the 'golden era' of gun ownership. MARK MY WORDS.

Oh, weight on a case of 7.62x39 is just under 38 lbs and mainly comes in plain white boxes. The 7.62x25 came in plain brown boxes. Spam cans of 1000 packed in plain brown boxes, but I got them from AIM.

I looked at every website everyone here mentioned, and ammoman is the only one who sells .45 GAP, which just happens to be the caliber of my glock. Even though they may have rotten customer service, I want to see for myself. I just received the UPS tracking # for my 1000 rounds; now we wait and see.
