Paracord is the duct tape of

The world of rope.

You can't have enough of the stuff.

Re: paracord

You need to be aware that synthetic cord frequently reacts badly to salt water and sunlight, and can have unreasonable stretching parameters. Before investing, I'd suggest looking up the different characteristic of various types of rope. I'm old school and prefer to go with natural fibres myself, but synthetics do have their place. Some float, some stretch enough to serve as very limited shock cord, some have near incredible wear resistance. Add to that, how it's woven can dramatically affect it's properties, as can merging different fibres. A steel core over nylon, wrapped in poly can make a near indestructible, floating rope. Braided versus twisted .... There's no single answer.

Go for it...can't find enough uses for paracord. I even use it for laces on my boots.

Looks like a good price for 550 cord. Another source ( http://www.vtarmynavy.com/parachute_cord.htm ) has 450 & 550 cord, in a variety of colors. Their price for 550 cord, however, is $53 for a 1200 ft spool (vs $45/1000 ft for the source you listed). Check out the difference in shipping charges also.

550 cord is very useful at home or when camping. If one strand isn't enough, double it up & use 2 strands.

Looks like a great price although you may find it on ebay for much cheaper. Just depends.

I get my 550 cord for free and that is the only way I will have it...free.
