If they did come in their own individual pouches, they'd cost more. But, the truth of the matter is that they store quite nicely in Ball jars. If you can get 15 or 20 absorbers into 1 quart jar, their collective O2 absorbing capacity will FAR exceed the oxygen in a one quart jar, so they won't exhaust themselves stored collectively. In fact, I believe that the shelf life of the absorbers is probably longer stored in glass jars than it is in the vacuum sealed plastic that they come in from the manufacturer. My O2 absorbers are a couple of years old and still quite viable.
If you have 100 absorbers, it will take several jars to store them all, which is a good thing. When you open one jar, you won't be exposing ALL your absorbers at one time. When you remove one or several, re-seal your motherload before you do anything else; that will help to keep the absorbers remaining in your jar viable. If you can get your hands on a vacuum sealer (such as a Pump-N-Seal), you can further minimize the damage to your stock of O2 absorbers when you open the jar by reducing the amount of air in the jar when you re-seal it.
