Re: farm

Can I get that with no down on a 5 year ARM?
I have no income, job, or assets.

Re: farm

Why is it so cheap with all that land?? Something like that would sell for at least double where I am from.

CANUCKFARMER 04-02-2009 01:01 PM

Re: farm

Not trying to sell anything.

Lots of farm talk on here.Just passing info.

I follow u.s farm prices and know that farms are completly out of reach for people down there.

CANUCKFARMER 04-02-2009 01:02 PM

Re: farm

Its cheap because there is a lack of people here.

mocha 04-02-2009 01:04 PM

Re: farm

Canuckfarmer:

I see from the ad on the house they have a natural gas furnace......would that be from a well on the place ? Or do you guys run gas lines that far out in the country ? Ad says they are two miles from a paved road, so I assume that's fairly rural territory.

Natural gas here is only supplied in urban areas......we country folk are out of luck with NG, have to go propane....or you happen to have a natural gas well on your place.

Re: farm

Yah beat me to that question Andy....it would be a heck of a asset to have your own NG well on site...cure a ton of problems

Maybe this will answer that question:

Not much use farm land with that kind of climate. What can you grow there besides radishes and lettuce?

Re: farm

N gas lines run everywhere.

On my farm we are 5 miles from a ten thousand person city and we have town water that was trenched in 15 years ago.I think the water is now trenched in up to ten miles away in every direction.

As far as growing stuff, you can grow everything, easily.

About 350 miles further north than MTL, and higher elevation too.

I like the way they swept up all the snow and chased the polar bears away so as to make the pics look nice.

Canadians in the countryside, are actually pretty nice people, often a little bit too much to the left for my taste, but still good quality folks no matter how you look at it.

The reason the land is cheap is because it yields about 1/2 of what you would get from the land in Pennsylvania, plus it is farther away from a major market, which is important to the agribusiness types.

If you were just growing for yourself, or if you especially focused on higher-value items like herbs, spices, or even naturally raised animals, then you could expect to do well on such a spread.
