TVP's

Textured Vegetable Protein

never really tried something like this
but i was thinking of adding this to my preps for taste variety
( bacon-sausage-hamburger-taco flavors )

anyone else put these in their food preps ?

I've got a fair amount of TVP in various "flavors" stockpiled, as a meat substitute. It's one of those things you hope you never have to use!

I have a few recipes that utilize TVP. I'm not too fond of the stuff but it works great in the right hands and does store very well. Moderation is all that is needed.

When I was in grade school, the cafeterias used to sell these greasy burritos filled with that stuff called "taco snacks". They were repulsive.

I would rather spend the extra money and buy the real stuff instead of this nasty TVP crap. That is just me. The Mountain House ground beef is pretty good stuff and so are their other meats.

Don't tell the Chinese and Japanese that, since they were eating soy foods for centuries before we did. Also, if you go by that reasoning there shouldn't be any lesbians.

Correction they eat mostly fermented soy, which reduces those estrogens.

Actually it can cause cancer in women.
