Pump-n-Seal
Someone on this forum mentioned the Pump-n-Seal a while back, and I am thinking about getting one. Should I use an oxygen absorber in the containers also? Thanks very much for your help.

Re: Pump-n-Seal
I bought one a few months ago and I love it. I have only used it on jars so far.
I put an o2 absorber in a few jars, but I don't think it helped any. The sealer pulls something like 35lbs of vacuum. The absorber can't come anywhere close to that. I don't know of any sealer on the market that can draw as much vac as the pump-n-seal. |
Re: Pump-n-Seal
I put my brown rice in quart jars with O2 absorbers. Later, when I open a jar, I replace the lid with a Pump-n-Seal. That way, the O2 absorber has minimal oxygen to absorb and will continue to keep the inside of the jar oxygen-free as I gradually work my way through the contents, which in my case takes a while because I only eat rice maybe once every two weeks.
Remember, the objective isn't so much the number of pounds of vacuum you pull, but reducing the amound of oxygen in the jar. |
