He didn't have very good tactical skills. He left himself quite vulnerable. In addition to the Berkey he probably wished that he had put this on his windows (http://www.acesecuritylaminates.com/products.htm), and installed steel decorative security doors. At least he was armed. Maybe an AK would have been better...

I think I heard 9 rounds from that hi cap Glock. An AK or AR with double mags, body armor, and helmet plus better tactical skills would have gone a long way. I would have chosen to defend the upstairs via the stairway. You can see the front door, narrow field of fire, bad guys falling all over themselves, plus they dont want you, just your preps. Split up the preps up and down stairs. And a big 10:4 on the Berkey.

Oh, and for the back door: Mr. Rottweiler.

How about securing a defensible perimeter? Sitting in your house waiting for a parasitic hoard to attack is a pretty lame strategy. Best defense is a good offense, should have sniped these losers from the roof.

At any rate, I agree, given the parameters, an AK or similar could have changed the outcome. Great link on the security glass treatment BTW - thanks !!

The web bots are calling for pandemics in 08? 09?..ill listen again. Also they see the continued demise of the illfated green pantacle oh doom! And of course all sorts of other fabulous and exciting future DOOM!

Yeah, I listened to part of it. Web-bot is predicting 08-09 incidents with something huge in 2012.

There is a lot of "doom and gloom" prophecy on the net concerning December 21, 2012 so the web-bot could just be processing a lot of speculative trash. The problem is that you always hear about the seemingly accurate predictions but nobody ever makes a big deal about the inaccurate ones.

Your best bet is to stick to science and math coupled with your own knowledge and observations with a pinch of gut feeling to best prepare yourself for future events.

the best part was about the Greenland 'ice shelf' breaking off, creating a 300' tidal wave, causing oceans to rise 60', wiping out our coasts. the scary part is that Cliff is building a boat!
