Chickweed
This is a great plant to have growing wild on your land.
I consume some of its leaves every year and every year it seems to increase on my property. It needs no care at all since it's a 'weed' and it's nice to have near the house if things get really ugly. http://www.nutrition-info.com/herbs/herbs-chickweed.php |
Re: Chickweed
Very good information to know and the website is someplace I will pay a visit to for other questions I have.
Great share :ok: T |
Re: Chickweed
I looked into this and apparantly there are a few varieties of "chickweed". The one mentioned in the link is "Stellaric Media":

Re: Chickweed
My chickens absolutely adore Chickweed. It's the first weed I introduced to them and is still among their favorites.
I eat it also, though in small quantities. It has a soft bland non astringent but refreshing flavor and pleasant texture. It grows reliably almost year round down here in Florida, in the garden, in the yard along the fence lines. It's easy to pull up if you don't like it, but it pretty much always grows back. I agree... Great share, GreenSpirit. |

I like to tear off a handful or two to toss into the pasta as it's almost done. God grows it; I just eat it. |
Re: Chickweed
I probably should not have even mentioned chickweed 'cause now everyone will know about it. I don't want weirdoes in my yard.
