Buffalos
Got 2 of the proofs for 1600$, Man are they beautiful, and I feel worth it.
Took 2 weeks from order time. Gonna sell them when I can get $3000 each for them in about 9 months. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs...category=10197 |
Re: Buffalos
I was thinking about getting a proof but I heard they were up to $875 each ( I need to check the mint site again) so it looks like you got them at the best price so far. Thats great!:ARMS1: I ended up buying a couple of regular buffalos this past weekend. Paid more than I wanted but will not likely be buying any more.
I still would like one proof but don't expect to have any extra fiat for a few months due to other expenses (like property taxes :banghead:, new grage door, car repair after damage from garage door breaking, ins, ect.-just one of those months but grateful I can pay my bills). They are a nice looking coin. I think I still like the AGE better. Its a toss up. Congrats on your purchase. |

Re: Buffalos
Proofs were selling from the US Mint for $800.....far as I know they still are unless they have sold out........they might go up to $1000 in a couple of years but I doubt you will live to see them hit $3000 each unless gold hits $3000 an ounce.....and then, if it does, it will still be worth 1 ounce of gold.
I have a couple of graded Buffalos and they might be worth a bit more to collectors, but even at $3000 an ounce probably more like $3500 maybe. Just too many people with these coins at this point - no sign of a stampeed for the Buffalos yet. |
Re: Buffalos
I bought one proof, I don't know about resale but it's so pretty I doubt I will ever sell it!

Re: Buffalos
anyone in here want to buy a buffalo proof from me?
$850 shipped......NGC 69 too. |
Re: Buffalos
I think Numismatics will hold there price (premium) for a while longer. Its gonna take an epic collapse for Proof Numismatics to go for spot.
The house of cards will start to collapse in 07 to 09 then the real fireworks will happen in 10 to 13, But in the mean time gold may go to 1500$ by next spring. Apmex is selling these proofs for 1100$ |
Re: Buffalos
Ok, Newbish question sorry but, what if you buy one of these holders http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-AMERICAN-BU...QQcmdZViewItem
and then just buy the gold buffalo itself for $660 from amex and put it in ? Is that basically the same what the US mint is selling ? What am I missing here... |
Re: Buffalos
The 660$ Buffalo is mint uncirculated , Youd have to buy the 1100$ proof from amex to have what the mint proof is . Gotit?

Re: Buffalos
How are they different? Sorry but I never looked into this.

Re: Buffalos
the proof has some mirror finishes and comes in a nice case. The uncirculated (hopefully) is just a bullion coin kind of like a frosted finish, no mirror finishes.

I think he wants to buy an uncirculated and put it in the proof presentation case. Only for colectible value proof is more desirable than plain uncirculated. I own only 2 proof coins, all the few others are uncirculated. |

Re: Buffalos
Hmm. All my maple leafs are as shiny and mirrored as the proof Buffalo seems to be.
They certainly are nice coins, but they don't quite do it for me compared to the other coins on the market. Now the South African mint's animal series-- those are beautiful. Either way, I do hope that you one day will be able to sell it for $3000. And while the dollar is worth enough for that to actually be a gain. |

that looks suspicious Vancover, USA, United Sates ????where???? why would one sell the proof for less than they purchased it? i'm not aware it could ever be purchased for less than $800. anyone able to confirm? |

Maybe they bought a lot of them and kept the ones they felt would get MS70 ratings and shipped those off to PCGS. Just a thought. |

Re: Buffalos
If you are thinking about making future profit(s), then it is better to buy a regular 1oz buffalos at current dealer sell price $611.00 (17-09-06) rather than a PROOF 1oz Buffalo. Investment wise, it's better to go dollar for dollar when it comes to purchasing bullion.
I would rather buy 1oz Austrialian Luner gold coins vs PROOF Buffalos. Most Luner 1oz gold coins are $20 above 1oz Gold Eagles. They are just as beautiful and maybe even more rare than PROOF Buffalos. At currently cheap gold price, I would save my $200 bucks and buy regular 1oz Buffalos; I'll use the save money to buy more silver coins. Silver has gone up in higher percentage than gold since beginning of the year. golddealer.com always list their current buying/selling price. They also list buy/sell price for PROOF coins. I just got many of them from the mint at $800 each and only $4.95 shipping for all. :withstupi I plan to send them to NGC or PCGS when I get a chance. Now looks real good because the marketplace is running scared. :withstupi Look for NO inflation, super higher prices in commodities, and an economy that is being liquified by the eager beaver FED burn the currency Ben. :withstupi Also I see the coins selling from $4000 to $5500 each a piece in a few years - mayber up to four years - that is. :withstupi |
